Our Privacy-First Approach

WoodCalc Pro is designed with privacy at its core. We believe your calculations and project data should stay with you, not on our servers.

What We Collect

Local Storage Only

All your data is stored exclusively in your browser using IndexedDB:

• Calculation History: All your past calculations (board feet, stairs, deck, rafter, and lumber calculations) are stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB storage
• Retention: Data persists until you clear your browser data or use the "Clear History" button in the app
• Control: You have complete control - export, delete, or keep your data as long as you want

What This Means

• ✅ Your calculations never leave your device
• ✅ We cannot access your project data
• ✅ No account or login required
• ✅ Works offline once loaded
• ✅ No tracking of your calculations

URL Sharing Feature

When you share a calculation via URL:

• What's Shared: Only the calculation parameters (dimensions, quantities, etc.) are encoded in the URL
• No Personal Data: The URL contains no personal information, project names, or location data
• Your Choice: Sharing is optional - click "Copy Link" only when you want to share
• Example: ?length=8&width=6&thickness=1&quantity=10

Analytics

We use basic analytics to understand:

• Page views and navigation patterns
• Calculator usage (which calculators are most popular)
• Browser and device types (for compatibility)

We do NOT track:

• Individual calculation values
• Project details
• Personal information
• User identities

Third-Party Services

Ahrefs Web Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics for basic site statistics. Ahrefs is a privacy-focused analytics platform that:

• Does not use cookies
• Does not track users across websites
• Does not collect personal information
• Provides aggregate statistics only

No Other Third Parties

• ❌ No advertising networks
• ❌ No social media tracking pixels
• ❌ No marketing platforms
• ❌ No data brokers

Your Rights

You have complete control over your data:

• Access: View all your calculations in the History page
• Export: Download your calculation history as CSV
• Delete: Clear all history at any time with one click
• Portability: Export and take your data anywhere

Data Security

Since your data never leaves your browser:

Local-First Architecture

How It Works

1. All Calculations Client-Side: Every calculation happens in your browser using JavaScript
2. No API Calls for Calculations: We don't send your measurements to a server
3. IndexedDB Storage: Your history is saved in your browser's built-in database
4. No Account Sync: Since there are no accounts, there's no server-side data storage

Browser Data Management

Your calculation history is stored in your browser's IndexedDB. To manage this data:

• Clear Specific Calculations: Use the "×" button on individual history entries
• Clear All History: Click "Clear All History" button in the History page
• Browser Settings: Clear site data through your browser's settings
